French and English Online Tutoring at LRDG is designed for busy professionals who need real progress in a flexible way. Our blended methodology combines self-directed training on our platform with live, online tutoring sessions led by certified instructors. This article focuses on the tutoring experience, what happens in a session, how it supports your learning, and why it works.
Individual vs. Group Tutoring Sessions
All tutoring sessions at LRDG are held online via Microsoft Teams, ensuring accessibility and flexibility no matter where you are located. Learners can choose between:
-
Individual tutoring:
One-on-one with your tutor for 60 minutes. Learn more about individual tutoring.
-
Group tutoring:
Up to 4 learners with one tutor for 90 minutes. Learn more about group tutoring.
Both formats are led by certified tutors who tailor each class to your learning goals and style, making the most of our blended methodology
What Happens During the First Tutoring Session
If it’s your first class, your tutor will walk you through the platform and process step by step. Returning learners usually come with light preparation, homework, exercises, or review of past lessons. Tutors ensure you know exactly what to expect, so you can focus on learning.
What to Expect During a Tutoring Session
Every class follows a clear structure:
-
Warm-up (first 5 minutes):
A short icebreaker where your tutor asks about your week, work, or daily life. This builds confidence and sets the tone in the target language.
-
Core topic:
Depending on your level, this might include ordering at a restaurant, shopping, or discussing the weather for beginners, or more advanced themes like leading a meeting, interviewing candidates, or developing strategies for effective email communication. All topics are aligned with the module you are working on.
-
Oral Practice and reinforcement:
Tutors integrate platform-based activities and dialogues as oral drills to strengthen memory and recall. These exercises are designed to reinforce key vocabulary and structures through repetition and active speaking.
-
Role play and Q&A:
The second half of the session focuses on applying what you’ve learned. Tutors lead role-play exercises or ask deeper questions on the topic, followed by constructive feedback.
Every session is dynamic, practical, and designed to build communication skills you can use immediately.
After the Session: Reports and Next Steps
Tutors close the session by assigning the next steps. You’ll also receive an End of Session Report (ESR), a detailed written summary of what you practiced, key feedback, and preparation for the next class. This ensures you never lose track of your progress.
